HOT AT 68*
Working on my new greeting card, as well as working outside today. Sure is hot. My pond is a wreck, my birdhouses need repainting and fixing, I need someone to cut some trees. I can cut the lower limbs with my small chainsaw but can't reach or do the bigger ones.....leaves everywhere except where they should be...woe is me...haaaaa, hugs....noah
Early Spring....nope, doubt it
The weather has been so warm and wet this early year, my plants demands that spring be sprung. Poor things, it will turn very cold, hopefully snow, but they will be back in a few months....enjoy an early spring with me....and of course my favorite....my header....the winter rose...have a wonderful day....hugs, noah

DIYing etc.
I love these two little boxes. My best friends gave them to me as a gift, knowing I'd probably do something or add something to them. The first one had a design of a simple birdhouse, etc., so I needed something with shelves and a drawer in my kitchen to hole medication, salt and pepper shakers, toothpicks, etc. I like the end result...
then this other little box, is darling..it has a piece of plexy for the lid but didn't have a knob or handle, but now it does....I think it's rather darling...
not sure yet what it will house, but I know I will find something to fill it....

My "Mammy" Friend
One of my best friends collects everything "Mammy". Her granddaughter, whom she is raising, has always called her Mammy. She loves all the old vintage things of Mammy.
I had this old lid to a vintage wood stove, so I made this for her. She loves drawing pictures of "herself" as Mammy in "Paint" adding a little note as to how she "Mammy" is feeling.

NC Bound
Heading out to North Carolina in the morning. Spending the weekend with my two best friends since elementary school. I'm so excited to see them. We will laugh, may cry a bit, make pics of each other, and have a blast. Probably go junking, lots of eating, and just having fun together. We always have tons of stuff to give each other and I can't wait for them to see some of their gifts. We know each other well and we all like the same things. I love the old glass door knobs so I will be searching junk shops for them. You can do so much with them. I am so excited......hugs...noah

Not just a New Year's resolution....who's with me?
Hello fellow bloggers....I am about to undertake a life-changing adventure. After visiting my family doctor today, and reluctantly crawling upon the scales, I made the mistake of mentioning to my doctor that after a long night of fasting for blood work, I thought they should provide light snacks for us. His dry remark hit me hard: "....and you say THAT after getting off the scales?"
He proceeded to ask me what I was going to do about my weight. My cholesterol has been high for a couple of years and I have been on medication for it, though eating what the heck I wanted to. My glucose levels are not very impressive either. SHAME ON ME! Now, look where I'm at?
So, the very first thing I'm going to do is start walking again. Me being a Southerner and loving my sweet tea, I'm in deep trouble. Artificial sweetener doesn't agree with my stomach so, I'm going to have to find something I can satisfy my sweet tooth with. I love water, but just grab the tea jug instead. I reckon I'm in for a hard time.
I see my doctor ever six months and my great plan is to surprise him, tho, I must admit, I'm a very weak person when it comes to sticking to any sort of diet or exercise. With my age and weight(and all things in between) creeping up all too quickly, I think I must set small goals and reach them, then moving onto another small goal. Large goals are just too impossible for a weakling like myself.
If you're in the same old row boat with holes in it like me, maybe we can do something together. I am also thinking about joining Weight Watchers Online. Right now, until March, you join free with a 3 month plan. 18 bucks and some few cents per month....I can afford that. But it will only work if I do as the plan says. Let me know if you think you might like to take this challenge with me. We can do it together and encourage each other. ...hugs, "big" noah

MY CHINA CABINET
As I posted earlier, this simple china cabinet belonged to my mother. We lived in the mountains of NC and really didn't have much in the way of what a lot of people call "nice" stuff. My uncle made this simple cabinet for her. He stained it and put a heavy coat of poly over it. She had a very small space to put it.
Now that my sweet mother is spending her time with the angels, I knew she wouldn't mind me making it more to my taste. It had "1980's" hardware on it and I just didn't like the knobs. I had found these old hand made knobs at an old house I helped clean out and I like them on it.
I started painting the teapots on it that I had originally planned. I drew, painted, etc. for several days until I realized it was not going to look very good where I had plans to set it, due to it being seen from the living room. I painted it a dark olive, sanded a lot of the paint off it letting the teapots, etc. kinda shine through as if it had been painted that way years ago. I love it. So, I guess if I like it that's what counts, huh? The only thing that I want to do is put a nice coat of dark Old English over it so the wood that is shinning through will be a darker color. I have my vintage bowls, etc. in the top. I have my mother's set of china stored in the bottom, another thing I have never had a taste for, but it was hers and I would never get rid of it. I am more into setting a table with vintage plates of different patterns and colors....guess the "country girl" really is coming out......here's my outcome....up to this point anyway.

Another project finished
I have finished my china cabinet....I had originally planned to paint tea pots all over it and got side tracked after painting a couple, made another decision. I painted it green, then sanded it, letting the paintings shine through to a certain degree. I had some very old hand made knobs so I decided to put them on it...I actually like it....and I guess that's all that counts....now to put my goodies back in it....
